Field Trip #1

It was time for another field trip!  This anouncement was met with loud cheers from the students.
It was decided that our first field trip of the school year would be to the Spice Basket.

We were led on a tour through the small musuem.  The numerous displays included ancient Indian artifacts, old-time machinery and tools, and a display of pictures commemorating the U.S. invasion.

The tour ended with cricket memorabilia.  Cricket is a big thing here in Grenada, so the students enjoyed looking at numerous cricket bats, jerseys, luggage, books and pictures of cricket players.  After the tour of the museum we headed over to the Spice Basket's large auditorium, where they showed us a short documentary of some of the history of Grenada.  I probably found that part more interesting than my students did.

After a snack break, we loaded up the buses and headed to a point to eat our lunches.  We made a quick stop at Grand Etang.  We had just enough time there before the rain started falling to take a picture of a monkey sitting on Mr. Mapson, our principal.

We drove the buses as far back in a road as possible, and sat down in a nice grassy area to eat lunch.  Afterwards we had some extra time, so the kindergarten, first grade & second grade classes headed down toward the beach.  There we found some fisherman pulling in their nets.

This field trip was especially a success since there were no sick students in my bus!  Ahhhhh.....at long last!
