Westerhall Hike

It was high time for a church hike.  The last one had been canceled because of rain, I think and the one before that had happened a month or two ago.  As we waited to load up the bus, drops of rain began to fall lightly.

We drove up close to Westerhall Secondary School and piled out of the bus to begin our hike.  The sky still looked threatening and once again it began to drizzle.  But soon it cleared off and we once again had a beautiful day to hike and admire God's creation!

The hike began rather roughly with us trekking through some rather prickly bush.  This was quite tramatic for the younger hikers, but we all made it through with only some minor scratches.  We continued onward and upward and finally broke out of the bush onto a rocky and seemingly unused dirt road.

I was having fun exploring some unfinished concrete houses until I discovered that they were inhabited....by bats!  Uggghhh!!! I hate bats!

The bat-infested house!

Our hike took us to the top of a hill overlooking the ocean.  There was an old pavilion up there and some broken down chairs.  We relaxed up there for awhile and some amused themselves by climbing on top of the roof and jumping down.  After awhile we finished our hike, by walking the rest of the way to the road that goes in to Bacolet Point.

The security guard there was not too happy to see us!  He said that usually he is supposed to make the people that came down that way and want through, turn around and go back the way they came.  The reason for this being that there is a danger of falling rocks!  Which makes absolutely no sense to make people walk back through the supposed danger again! :)  But thankfully, he let us through after seeing that we had a number of small children with us.  And that concluded our Sunday afternoon hike.  Thankfully God held off the rain and it was a beautiful day to enjoy His creation.
